1. Introduction


At Be. Independent Day Nursery, we are committed to providing inclusive and high-quality early years education for all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This Local Offer Policy outlines our approach to supporting children with SEND and informs parents and guardians about the services and resources available to them.


2. Purpose of the Local Offer


The Local Offer is designed to:


  • Provide clear and accessible information about the support and services available to children with SEND and their families.
  • Ensure that parents and carers are informed about the nursery’s approach to inclusion and how we can support their child’s development.
  • Foster collaboration between families, local authorities, and health services to enhance outcomes for children with SEND.


3.Our Commitment


At Be. We are committed to providing an environment that is consistently inclusive and supports all children regardless of special educational needs or varying development. We do this by ensuring all staff receive relevant training, and work closely with Kent multi-agencies to deliver a holistic approach to childcare and child development.


4. Information about Our Services


4.1 Support Available

  • Individualised support plans tailored to each child’s specific needs.
  • Access to qualified staff trained in SEND support.
  • Opportunities for small group activities to enhance learning. We attempt to provide additional staff each day to be able to facilitate this personal approach.
  • Collaboration with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists, when necessary.


4.2 Early Identification and Assessment

  • We have processes in place for the early identification of SEND, including regular observations and assessments.
  • Parents will be involved in discussions about their child’s development and any concerns regarding their learning.

  • We believe in building strong partnerships with parents and caregivers. We encourage open communication regarding any concerns and welcome their input in developing support strategies for their child.
  • Regular meetings will be held to review progress and adapt support plans as needed.


4.4 Accessibility

  • Our nursery environment is designed to be accessible to all children, including those with physical disabilities. However, prior to each child being offered a place at nursery we will ensure that we have met with all medical and healthcare professionals involved in development to ensure that we are able to facilitate the highest level of care depending on the child’s individual needs.
  • Resources and activities will be adapted to meet the diverse needs of children, ensuring that every child can participate fully.


5. How to Access Our Local Offer

  • Parents can access our Local Offer by [insert methods, e.g., visiting our website, contacting the nursery directly, or attending information sessions].
  • We encourage parents to discuss their child's needs with the nursery staff and to seek advice or support as needed.
  • Our SENCo offers SENCo surgery each term for parents to be able to discuss any queries surrounding their child’s learning and development, as well as giving parents the opportunity to arrange meetings with senior management to give them the opportunity to discuss anything relating to physical, behavioural or general well-being needs of both parents and children.
